We are honored to bring to market this incredibly special R129 that has been reworked by the iconic Mercedes Benz tuner, Renntech.
Started in 1989, Renntech quickly became one of the world's best tuning and customization shop for all things Mercedes after turning customer AMG cars into some of the fastest and most reliable luxury supercars.
Their most notable achievement was their 7.4 developed in the 90s used in various vehicles with many iterations of the record setting power plant including the one found in this particular vehicle.
Built with upgraded with new titanium connecting rods, intake valves, a Moldex crankshaft, as well as ported and polished cylinder heads, and a new exhaust system, this SL600 had its 6 liter, naturally aspirated V12 injected with steroids to turn it into a 7.4 liter putting out 575 horsepower and 594 ft-lb of torque.
Power is transferred to the rear wheels with the help of the 5 speed automatic transmission equipped in the later SL600 models.
Handling is taken care of by Renntech's custom suspension tuning of the ADS and beefed up sway bars, and stopping is taken care of by the massive Brembo calipers added all around featuring 2 piece floating, slotted rotors in the front and cross drilled discs in the rear.
All around the car are custom built OZ Racing wheels with the iconic Renntech logo on an individual spoke of each wheel. Wrapped in healthy, 2021 date coded Michelin PS4's, this SL74 grips and puts power down exceptionally well.
Having traveled only 33k miles throughout its life, this SL74 has been well taken care of, properly serviced and loved by all its previous caretakers.
The current owner had its most recent services include new suspension hose for the front left of the vehicle with fluid flush, idler pulley, engine belt, power relay, and air pump bearing replaced. He also had the sound system reworked with front speakers and a new battery.
Before its recent home in Texas, it resided in the North east where it was clearly properly stored having zero sign of any rust anywhere on the body. While there, the car was curated by its caretaker after purchasing it at RM Sotheby's during Monterey Car Week of 2004. With every paper of registration renewals consistently marking miles and other invoices for services done throughout its life, this Renntech is very well documented.
During its life, the front has had paint work done in order to fix typical rock chips and peppering that becomes visible on black cars, but the car has never been in any accident or had anything hit it.
Underneath, there is a clean underbody with some surface rust on bolts as expected from being driven, but it still retains a lot of its original cosmoliner.
With a healthy start up each time, a responsive and smooth transmission, strong brakes, zero weird noises or clunks anywhere, a fully functioning top with minimal signs of usage, and COLD AC this car is ready to be enjoyed.
Imperfections that we'd note are the typical wear on the leather bolsters, some specks on the wheels, and the spare key plastic housing has cracked overtime.
Being sold with manuals, original order sheet from Renntech showcasing different power options, ORIGINAL window sticker and a healthy amount of records, this car is looking for its next Benz enthusiast to please.
